In the footprint of such a small room, every inch counts, so this custom-made countertop and sink maximize both space and aesthetics.

The Mission
This small (36-square-foot) Edina bathroom needed to serve a dual purpose, functioning as the primary bath for the adjacent bedroom and also the primary powder room for guests. Separating the shower with a wall and frosted glass door creates a space that allows for a double life.

The Highlights
For a small room, opening floor space by replacing the vanity with a stone top and furniture legs helps the room feel larger. A wall-to-wall medicine cabinet holds toiletries while creating a niche for art.

Materials

  • VANITY TOP: Creme Marfil stone from Princess Marble Co.
  • LIGHTS: Brass Light Gallery's Carlton line
  • SINK: Mosaic sink from Linkasink
  • CABINETS: Maple wood with painted and glazed finish, CBF by Pierre

Victorian Restored

Designed by Larson Brenner Architects Inc., Built by Braden Construction

Cost: $120,000

Bathroom Beauties
The Mission
Workers and materials had to be carefully moved through this newly restored Victorian in Stillwater in order to open up space and allow more natural light into the third-floor master bath. Protecting the rest of the house from the construction process and matching the details of wood, tile and trim from the original, century-old home was challenging, but rewarding.

The Highlights
A magnificent piece of custom furniture was designed and built for the vanity, which stands beside hand-painted wall murals that complete this bathroom masterpiece.

Materials

  • LIGHTING: Hudson Valley Lighting
  • FLOOR TILE: Melange Marmo Setais from Fantasia Showrooms
  • SHOWER TILE: Cafe Rosita from Minnesota Granite & Marble
  • FURNITURE & VANITY CABINETS: Crotch-and-quartered mahogany veneers with anigre and sapele inlays, created by
    Clark David Lamm Inc.
  • VANITY TOP: Costa Dorata granite
