Home Improvement & Design Expo

On April 19 and 20, the Home Improvement and Design Expo -- the biggest home show on the north side -- is coming to the National Sports Center in Blaine. The expo is a great place to find decorators, builders, landscapers, designers, suppliers and other professionals with expertise in the home and design industry. Show hours are Saturday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. For more info, visit www.expoguys.com.

Fire prevention
Follow these safety tips to help prevent fires at home:

  • Check smoke detector batteries monthly.
  • Make sure extension cords are used properly and not overloaded.
  • Have your home heating unit cleaned and inspected at least every other year, and keep the area around it clean at all times.
